A loose cow briefly caused a traffic delay Thursday morning on Highway 101 south of Orcutt.
It all started shortly after 10:15 a.m. when the California Highway Patrol got a report of a black cow grazing along the righthand shoulder of the southbound lanes.
The cow crossed the lanes of traffic and ended up in the center divider where CHP officers used their vehicles to try to corral the animal.
Officers were eventually successful in gaining control of the cow and getting it back into a fenced field with other cattle.
