Stroke survivors and caregivers gathered at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art (SLOMA) on Tuesday for some art therapy.
SLOMA partnered with Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center to present the Strokes for Stroke event, which encourages rehabilitation through art.
Medical experts say research shows that painting and art therapy can be an enjoyable way for stroke patients to enhance their rehab.
The program focuses on techniques that stimulate brain function and improve hand-eye coordination.
Sierra Vista also hosts a monthly support group for stroke survivors and caregivers. To learn more, click here.
