Emma Roberts has signed on for the role of a lifetime: mom to a new baby boy. According to TMZ, the actress and her partner, Garrett Hedlund, welcomed a son on Dec. 27, and they reportedly gave him the name Rhodes.
Roberts confirmed that she was pregnant in August with a series of Instagram photos of herself sporting a baby bump and sitting beside Hedlund. She captioned the post, “Me… and my two favorite guys.” E! Online reported that among the responses to the Instagram post was a comment from Julia Roberts who wrote, “Love you” under the photo of her niece and great-nephew-to-be.
A few months later, Emma Roberts posted another beautiful photo of her baby bump on Instagram — this time alongside the announcement that she would be appearing on the cover of Cosmopolitan as the magazine’s first pregnant cover model. The magazine tweeted out the cover image as well on Nov. 11:
If we’ve learned anything from 2020, it’s don’t wait. Decembuary cover star @RobertsEmma stopped waiting about, oh, nine months ago—and she's ready for everything that's coming next. ðCheck out Emma's interview with @smdanler here: https://t.co/PS7OqfQS4w pic.twitter.com/Ye2t4L4twX

In the Cosmopolitan interview, Roberts talked about how serious and humbling it is to be responsible for another human’s first experiences in the world.
“It’s a beautiful thing to know that you’re in charge of creating your child’s world. I take that so seriously,” she told the magazine. “Sometimes I think about seeing him in the morning and how I want to say good morning to him and how I want to put him to bed at night, all those things that end up creating your sense of safety. Sometimes it’s scary, though, because I’m responsible for this child’s world and memories, and I want to make it all wonderful.”
On a much less serious note, Roberts also talked to Cosmopolitan about her latest movie, a frothy, festive holiday rom-com for Netflix called “Holidate.” Check out the trailer, as posted to Netflix’s Twitter page:

Roberts apparently loved the script and wanted to take a little break from dramatic roles.
“The script came along and I remember thinking, ‘This is what I want to do. I want to make a movie like this,'” Roberts told Cosmopolitan. “It’s nostalgic; it’s romantic; it’s fun. I love serious work, but sometimes, you just want to laugh and watch a movie 10 times in a row, and that’s OK.”
From now on, Roberts gets to spend all her holidays with a new special little guy. Congratulations to the happy family!
