It goes without saying that 2020 was a difficult year, so the calendar turning to 2021 is cause for serious celebration — complete with sweet treats and confetti.
If you have a Dunkin’ near you, you can even start your celebration at breakfast, as the chain has added a new treat to their menu that’s perfect for the New Year: a confetti doughnut, appropriately named Dunkfetti!
In Dunkin’ shops now through Jan. 26, the doughnut features confetti cake coated in a sweet, sugary glaze.
Not into confetti flavors? Dunkin has dozens of other doughnuts to help you celebrate 2021, including a new spicy “ghost pepper” if you want to start off the year with a kick.
If doughnuts aren’t your thing, you can find other new offerings, like gluten-free fudge brownies, stuffed mini bagels and croissants, and sweet black pepper snackin’ bacon.
The snackin’ bacon is not entirely new, as the sweet pepper flavor is simply a fan favorite that’s returning. Each order comes with eight snack-sized slices of bacon in a sleeve to take on-the-go.
Along with these food items, Dunkin’ also recently added a new drink to the menu for anyone who wants to start this year highly caffeinated. The new Extra Charged Coffee has 20% more caffeine than the company’s classic hot and iced coffees, thanks to the addition of green coffee extract.
To turbo-charge the drink, the caffeine is extracted from the coffee bean itself before it goes through the roasting process. If you’re not sure you can handle that much caffeine, you can try it in a medium-size for just $2 now through Jan. 26.
Meanwhile, Starbucks is also adding new menu items to start fresh this year, including kale and portobello mushroom egg bites, red velvet loaf (vanilla cake swirled with red velvet cake and topped with white chocolate icing) and a chocolate cake pop dipped in blue icing and coated in green and white sprinkles, meant to resemble the earth.
Starbucks also has some new drinks on offer, including a Honey Almondmilk Cold Brew, Honey Almondmilk Flat White and a Pistachio Latte, which pairs the sweet flavors of pistachios with espresso, steamed milk and a salted brown buttery topping.
Will you celebrate 2021 with a new breakfast treat?
