Chief Meteorologist

Chief Meteorologist Dave Hovde has been a Central Coast staple since 2003. As the most experienced broadcast meteorologist on the Central Coast, viewers have come to depend on Dave's accurate Microclimate Weather forecasts weeknights on KSBY News at 5:00, 6:00, 10:00 and 11:00 p.m.

Dave is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association and holds active broadcast seals with both organizations.

Dave came to KSBY from Fargo, North Dakota where he served as chief meteorologist. Dave also has extensive experience in California since he served as chief meteorologist at KERO-TV in Bakersfield. He is a graduate of Minnesota State University and has also attended Mississippi State and Portland State universities.

Dave is proud to have received the Golden Mike award from the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California, for Best Television Weather Segment, 6 times.

Off-camera, Dave is active in support of San Luis Obispo Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), an organization that helps foster youth. He enjoys speaking engagements at local schools and community groups, and when he can, finds a little time to play golf and hit the gym.

Dave is the proud father of Ethan and Campbell.
