Wild West Pizza & Grill in Lompoc is hosting a daylong fundraiser for a local family that’s raising money for the upcoming Angelman Syndrome Foundation Walk.

Angelman Syndrome is a rare neuro-genetic disorder. Symptoms include developmental delay, lack of speech, seizures, and walking and balance disorders.

The Angelman Syndrome Foundation is holding a walk this May in Atascadero to raise money for research and awareness.

Ten-year-old EmmaRose and her team, A New Hope, are raising money for the walk during a fundraiser at Wild West Pizza & Grill on Thursday, April 11.

The restaurant will donate 50 percent of each pizza purchased when customers mention “EmmaRose” when ordering.

In the evening, there will also be a bake sale.

EmmaRose is among the one in 15,000 children who has Angelman Syndrome. Her stepdad says it affects her learning. While she has the ability to learn, it just takes her more time than other kids her age.

“She is a wonderful child. We have a lot of fun. She’s a thrill seeker. We go out to amusement parks and we do as much as we can. She loves going to the beach,” said Eric Schiff, EmmaRose’s stepfather.

The fundraiser continues until 9 p.m. Wild West Pizza is located at 1137 North H Street.

The Angelman Syndrome Foundation Walk takes place at Atascadero Lake Park on Saturday, May 11.
