The Bookstore in Lompoc is giving kids a reason to succeed in school.

They’re giving store credit to any kid who brings in their report card and shows them their good grades.

Students get 50 cents credit for getting an “A” or equivalent and 25 cents for a “B” or equivalent.

The credit is good for any used book in the store and must be used during the current school year.

“We want to try and reward the kids for their good grades and to encourage them to come in and to know that they can get good grades and use those to get new books,” said Stephanie Rivera, store clerk.

The Bookstore has been running this program for the last ten years.

Rivera says the response from both students and parents has been positive.

The Bookstore carries new and used books for all ages, along with a selection of art by local artists. It’s located at 1137 North H Street, Suite Q.
