Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Here are some of the events happening around the Central Coast:

SATURDAY, MARCH 16

Love SLO Community-Wide Day of Service
8 a.m.-noon
Various locations throughout San Luis Obispo
Join hundreds of other volunteers as they disperse around the city to take on various community service and beautification projects. The day begins with a festival and breakfast in Mission Plaza.

St. Patrick’s Day Car Show
10 a.m.-3 p.m.
St. Louis de Montfort Church, 1190 E. Clark Ave., Orcutt
Check out dozens of cars, trucks and motorcycles of all years, makes and models. The event will also include live music by Unfinished Business, vendor booths, public safety displays, and food available for purchase.

SLO Film Fest King Vidor Award Night
7 p.m.
Fremont Theatre, 1035 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo
Actor Alfred Molina will be honored with the King Vidor Award for excellence in filmmaking. Turner Classic Movies’ Ben Mankiewicz will host a discussion of Molina’s career and there will be a screening of the film “Chocolat.” The evening will also include the presentation of the George Sidney Independent Film Awards.

Actor Alfred Molina will be honored with a King Vidor Award at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 17

Wine & Chili Festival
Noon-4:30 p.m.
Flying Flags RV Resort, 180 Avenue of the Flags, Buellton
Enjoy bites and sips from more than 35 wineries, breweries, and spirit companies, plus 28 chili and salsa cooks competing to be the Community Cookoff Champ. The event will also include live music, vendors and lawn games.

Taste of Solvang
Various times and locations around Solvang
Spend a weekend experiencing the culinary treats of the Danish town and surrounding wine country. Saturday’s events include a Culinary Tasting Trail, Dinner at Root 246, and a Sidewalk Sale. Sunday’s big event is a Danish Brunch at K’Syrah Catering and Events Center.

Vintage Paso Zinfandel Weekend
Various times and locations around Paso Robles
Paso Robles celebrates its heritage variety, Zinfandel, with events at more than 100 participating wineries that include free food, pairing seminars, winemaker dinners, and music.
