Photography Hike
8 a.m.-noon
Pacific Dunes Ranch, 1205 Silver Spur Place, Oceano
Join dunes photographer Chuck Jennings on a morning hike through the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes. He’ll share tips and tricks to dunes photography. Bring a jacket, water and your camera.

Underwater Parks Day Festival
10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center, 211 Stearns Wharf, Santa Barbara
Learn about marine science with interactive activities and crafts. Plus, connect with marine conservation specialists to learn more about life in the Santa Barbara Channel.

4th Annual Tamale Festival
11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunken Gardens, 15 E. Mall, Atascadero
Enjoy a variety of tamales from local vendors and vote for your favorite. There will be a Tamale Eating Contest and live entertainment by Mariachi Mexicanisimo, the famous Dancing Horses, soloist Manuel Enrique, the Grupo Folklorico Dancers from Paso Robles, and the Los Gatos Locos band, plus bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals, and a variety of food and craft vendors.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration
1-3 p.m.
Flamson Middle School Auditorium, 2405 Spring St., Paso Robles
The event includes a march for unity from 21st and Gregory St. to Flamson Middle School, followed by a program featuring guest speaker Dr. Joye M. Carter and performances by The Black Queens, Folkoric Dancers, Singing Hands, PRHS Jazz Band, Paso Robles Black Student Union and more.

Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival
Various times and locations
Watch, photograph and learn more about the birds that visit Morro Bay and why the area is known as a Globally Important Bird Area. Activities include keynote speakers, boat rides, hiking trips and other bird watching excursions. Special events on Saturday include an Art, Wine & Nibbles Reception, Family Day at the Museum of Natural History, and Meet the Raptors at the Morro Bay Veteran’s Hall.

Total Lunar Eclipse Viewing
7:30-10:30 p.m.
Baker Lawn, Cal Poly
Join the Cal Poly Astronomical Society for a viewing of the total lunar eclipse, or ‘super blood wolf moon.’ Telescopes will be provided.
