A breezy weekend in store

More on the weekend forecast in a little bit. First, let's talk about Friday evening. Some storms developed off Point Conception this afternoon and looks like there will be a chance of thunderstorms for most areas from the mountains westward and interior sections of SLO and SB counties.

Brief heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning strikes will be a concern with any activity this afternoon and early evening. Driven by daytime heating these cells will quickly die this evening.

The upper low passing thru and the trough coming in from the Pac NW will keep the marine depth high meaning the cooling will be there for both coastal and inland areas thru the weekend, along with breezy winds from the NW to 20-25 mph on Saturday PM and up to 30mph Sunday.

Monday is a bit of a transition day to a flat ridge of high pressure which will again squish the marine layer. Tuesday and Wednesday look warm, especially inland. Another approaching trough late next week will again take the edge off the heat.
