The Central Coast AirFest will be full of high-flying stunts and aerial demonstrations this weekend in Santa Maria.

The event takes place at the Santa Maria Airport from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Friday, air show organizers previewed what spectators will be able to see over the weekend. It included an explosion that put up a cloud of black smoke that could be seen surrounding the airport.

The explosion was planned and no one was hurt. A few weeks ago, a controlled burn was conducted at the airport to ensure that pyrotechnic displays during the air show could go off safely.

"Right now, we're just getting ready for what's gonna be a good show," said Chris Kunkle, Central Coast AirFest organizer. "We got really good, first class, top notch performers and yeah, we're really excited."

Tickets to the Central Coast Airfest are $35 for adults and $10 for children at the gate.
