One person stabbed in Santa Maria, investigation underway

UPDATE:(6:57p.m.) Santa Maria Police say before 2:00 p.m. Sunday, they received calls reporting a fight on the 100 block of West Carmen Lane, with one individual in possession of a firearm.

Once officers arrived and found an associated vehicle, they conducted a high risk stop and detained two people in the car for investigation.

One of the people in the car had several, non-life-threatening stab wounds and was transported to an area hospital.

The other person was arrested for multiple firearm violations. His name is being withheld due to his age.

The other parties involved identities are unknown as they left the scene prior to officers getting there.

Initial Post: (2:24 p.m.) Santa Maria Police are investigating a stabbing that happened Sunday afternoon.

Santa Maria Fire tweeted about the incident at around 2:15 p.m. Sunday.

Fire officials say one person suffered stab wounds and was transported to Cottage Hospital.

Officials say it happened in the area of Carmen and Thornburg. They are asking people to avoid the area as police are investigating the scene.
