Col. Michael S. Hough handed over command of the 30th Space Wing to Col. Anthony J. Mastalir at Vandenberg Air Force Base on Friday.

Col. Mastalir is a graduate of Northwestern University Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. He previously served as the Vice Commander of the 50th Space Wing, Air Force Space Command at Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado.

During the change of command ceremony, Col. Mastalir addressed the crowd. He talked about the future of the 30th Space Wing and plans to upgrade the launch range at Vandenberg.

“We have the responsibility to be the change agents needed to safely and affordably increase our range capacity so we can reach those future commands,” Col. Mastalir said.

The next launch scheduled at the base is a Minuteman III missile test.
