Rancho Grande Motors in San Luis Obispo presented the 17 Strong foundation with a check for $21,429 on Friday.

17 Strong’s mission is to fund “Victory Trips” for young adults battling catastrophic illnesses.

It was created by Ryan Teixeira of Arroyo Grande. He was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma at the age of 18, and because of his age, wasn’t eligible for a trip from the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Teixeira passed away from cancer in 2017.

To date, Teixeira’s parents say 17 Strong has funded 28 trips for about $5,000 each.

“It just warms our heart when we can see a smile on their face, that they’re not worrying about cancer treatments, they’re not worried about doctors’ visits. They’re creating new memories that can last forever and to just to kind of have a reset button,” said Ryan’s mother, Holly Teixeira.

The donation from Rancho Grande Motors was part of the Subaru Share the Love Event.
