Dave Hovde joined KSBY News as chief meteorologist in the spring of 2003. Dave delivers the Central Coast’s Microclimate Weather Monday through Friday on KSBY News at 5:00, 6:00, 10:00 and 11:00 p.m.
Dave is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association and holds active broadcast seals with both organizations.
Dave comes to KSBY-TV from Fargo, North Dakota where he also served as chief meteorologist. Dave also has extensive experience in California since he served as chief meteorologist at KERO-TV in Bakersfield. He is a graduate of Minnesota State University and has also attended Mississippi State and Portland State universities.
Dave is proud to have received the Golden Mike award from the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California, for Best Television Weather Segment, 6 times.
Off camera, Dave is active in support of San Luis Obispo Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), an organization that helps foster youth. He enjoys speaking engagements at local schools and community groups, and when he can, finds a little time to play golf and hit the gym.
Dave is the proud father of Ethan and Campbell.
