When offered the opportunity to return home and tell the stories of the people and places of the Central Coast, Brooke Martell jumped at the opportunity. She’s since been a Multimedia Journalist for KSBY News since January of 2016.
Before returning to the Central Coast, Brooke spent a number of years in San Diego. She was a writer and an Assignment Editor at NBC affiliate, KNSD, and was also a production assistant at KPBS in San Diego where she worked behind the camera for Evening Edition and KPBS Roundtable.
Brooke is a graduate of San Diego State University where she majored in Journalism and minored in Television, Film and New Media Production.
Brooke is a native to the Central Coast. And we know what you’re thinking. She must be related to legendary KSBY Anchor, Rick Martel. Although she shares the same last name (different spelling) she is not related but remembers growing up watching him on TV. She attended elementary school at Bellevue Santa Fe Charter School, junior high at Paulding Middle School and high school at Arroyo Grande High School. She is thrilled to be back in her hometown bringing you the news. In her free time, Brooke enjoys being outdoors, staying active and spending time with close friends and family. If she’s not in the newsroom, she’s likely at the Bob Jones Trail or visiting friends in, her home away from home, San Diego.
