The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has identified the man killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday south of Santa Maria as Joseph Wiley, 63, of Santa Maria.
The crash happened at about 7 p.m. in the 6300 block of Dominion Road.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, first responders found Wiley unconscious and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene after lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.
Fire officials said it was unknown whether Wiley died as the result of a crash or a prior medical emergency.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
