An inmate at the Lompoc Federal Prison has died, according to officials.
On Sunday, June 21st at about 10:30 a.m., 24-year-old inmate Mamoudou Kaba was found unresponsive at the United States Penitentiary (USP) Lompoc.
In a press release, staff members responded immediately and performed live-saving measures.
Staff then requested paramedics and life-saving efforts continued, but Kaba was later pronounced dead, officials said.
The cause of death is unknown.
Kaba was serving an 85-month sentence for bank robbery, armed bank robbery, firearm laws and use, carry and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime crime of violence, authorities said.
He was sentenced in the District of Kansas and had been at the USP Lompoc since July 10, 2019.
USP Lompoc is a medium security facility that currently houses 1,094 male offenders.
