Firefighters were working to put out a vehicle fire in Santa Maria Monday morning.
Santa Maria police say they were dispatched to the fire at the intersection of Carmen Lane and A Street at about 9:55 a.m.

A van was reportedly engulfed in flames creating a large plume of black smoke visible from Highway 101.
No injuries were reported.
People were asked to avoid the area.
