A driver is said to be in critical condition after crashing near Highway 154 in the Santa Barbara area Wednesday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened just before 1 p.m. when the driver of a van was heading eastbound on West Camino Cielo, west of Highway 154, and for unknown reasons, veered off the road.
The van went approximately 200 feet down an embankment, ejecting the driver, identified as Jason Laskay, 76, of Santa Barbara.
The road remained open following the crash but traffic was impacted for about an hour, according to CHP.
