The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two men found dead on a boat off the coast of Santa Barbara over the weekend.
The bodies of Gary Bishop, 53, and Christopher Avila, 49, both of Arroyo Grande, were found Sunday aboard the 34-foot Sea Ray Sundowner approximately 20 miles south of Point Conception.
A family member had reported the boat missing to the Coast Guard. The two men were reportedly supposed to be traveling from the Channel Island Harbor in Oxnard to Port San Luis. The last time family members had any contact with them was on Saturday.
The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Office is investigating the cause and circumstances of their deaths.
Sheriff’s officials say at this time, there is no evidence to suggest foul play or suicide.
