UPDATE (11:35 a.m.) – Caltrans reports that Highway 227 will remain closed between Noyes Rd. and Corbett Canyon Rd. until 2 p.m. because of the garbage truck fire at Cold Canyon Landfill earlier this morning.
The California Highway Patrol reported that everyone in the vehicle got out safely.
(10:30 a.m.) – A garbage truck caught fire at the Cold Canyon Landfill near San Luis Obispo on Tuesday morning.
It was first reported at about 9:40 a.m.
CAL FIRE says firefighters arrived to find the truck engulfed in flames. It was extinguished in about a half-hour.

Highway 227 was shut down at Price Canyon Road because of the fire and traffic was being diverted. It was expected to reopen by 11:30 a.m.
