One dead after single-vehicle crash near Shell Beach

UPDATE (11:45 p.m.) – The California Highway Patrol says the woman who was killed in a crash Monday night was 26-years-old and lived in Oceano.

Authorities say she was traveling southbound on Highway 101 near Shell Beach when she drove off the roadway and hit a tree at Spyglass Drive.

CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.


UPDATE (9:32 p.m.) – The California Highway Patrol said the person who was killed in a crash Monday night as a woman.

Officers said she was traveling south on Highway 101 near Shell Beach when she drove off the roadway, down an embankment and hit a tree at Spyglass Drive.

Firefighters extricated her but said she was dead before they pulled her out.

CHP expects to have the on-ramp open before 10 p.m.


The California Highway Patrol has confirmed that one person is dead after a single-vehicle collision near Shell Beach Monday night.

Officers responded to reports of a vehicle off the roadway at the Spyglass 101 on-ramp to Highway 101 just before 8 p.m.

Officers have shut down the on-ramp for the investigation.
